A Psalm If You Will

Why am I so inspired?
Why am I so on fire?
When will I embrace the craving
That brings my heart to flames.

I am a man of God you see
It breaks my heart to see them flee
Those for the battle but not the war
The hearts of those the devil tames.

Focus not on all your needs
Give to Him the bitter weeds
So he may water this undeserving plant
To perfect, strengthen, establish, and confirm.

Work through me oh Mighty God
Guide the path on which I have trod
Make me more and more like You
My selfish life to You I spurn.

Wanderlust

wan·der·lust [won-der-luhst]
Noun
A strong, innate desire to rove or travel about

I've had a large problem with this wanderlust of mine. The desire to just sprint through a forest with no recollection of where I'm going. To climb a rock face feeling the cool stone beneath my hands as the warm sun beats down on my face. To roam about through wilderness taking deep breaths of fresh air as the terrain crunches beneath my feet. Is this wanderlust of mine God given? I believe it has to be. As I do these things, whether I'm in the middle of the Angeles National Forest or stepping outside my door and feeling the sun between my toes, God seems to be closer than ever before. The last time I went outside and started sawing through a log that I needed to get rid of was one of the best God times I've had in quite some time. I just feel like I'm in the perfect place. The stress goes away and I get a better sense of what He's telling me every time I get out and satisfy my wanderlust. I have a strange feeling Jonothan was feeling the same way in 1 Samuel 14. Break out the bible and read it up to verse 23.
I've often felt spiritual wanderlust as well. Though my normal desire to rove through the wilderness brings me straight to God, I often feel passion twirling inside of me just dying to break out in some form or another. I feel like an enormous amount of adrenaline is running through my body and I'm holding a match just inches away from a lake of gasoline and I want to throw it in. I don't often know how to ignite that passion. There are so many ways I want to exert the God gifted talents He's given me and I'm stuck sitting in front of the fridge wondering what I'm going to eat for lunch! I want to be utilized! I want to read the Word and battle up and charge the Philistines saying "Perhaps the Lord will work for me (use me for his glory) today."
What sparks YOUR wanderlust? What fires YOU up inside?

ManVenture

We (practically all the Pursuit college guys) had a little adventure a few weeks back and it was FANTASTIC. Thank you guys for making the trip what it was. ManVenture 2 soon to follow!

1 Peter 5:6-11

6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, 7 casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. 8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world. 10 After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you. 11 To Him be dominion forever and ever. Amen.
